Freshworks began in Chennai in 2010 as Freshdesk, an easy-to-use help desk, and later expanded into IT service management and sales software. It became the first Indian-founded software company listed on Nasdaq in 2021.

Its products focus on quick set-up and a clean user experience, and serve many mid-sized businesses. The company is headquartered in San Mateo, California, with its largest team in India.
