Wise was founded in London in 2011 as TransferWise by Estonians Kristo Käärmann and Taavet Hinrikus, who were frustrated by the hidden fees on international transfers. It sends money across borders at the mid-market exchange rate with a transparent fee.

Wise Business gives companies multi-currency accounts, local account details in several currencies, cards and batch payments, and Wise Platform lets banks build Wise transfers into their own apps.
